Crashes every single time I use it. I simply open it up and go to the search screen. It then starts building the list of samples based on my search criteria.
I have already downloaded the entire library of samples to my local C:\ drive and pointed the browser to that path in the settings.
It get Index Out of Range error (parameter: index) and then crashes Visual Studio 2010 SP1 (which causes it to restart).
It happens after loading exactly 705 samples every single time.
Please fix this because I can't use it and will un-install it.
P.S. I have a Core i5 machine with 4GB RAM and Windows 7 Professional 64bit with all updates applied.
Thank you for your feedback and the issue report!! We have fixed the problem and published a new version of Sample Browser VS extension. You can get the updated 4.4 version from the “Update” tab of VS Extension Manager, or by clicking the “download” button again in http://aka.ms/samplebrowservsx.
(v1.4) It is probably a good tool when it works, but for me it does not work behind an authenticating proxy and crashes when trying to open the samples which were downloaded from the site manually. Opened a ticket on this issue.
Is there a network issue today as well?
With or without using IE proxy i get "A network error occurred. Please try configuration proxy and check network connectivity"
I also have the same problem with the Proxy not working using IE's Proxy Setting and IE set to 'Automatically Detect Settings' both checked and unchecked. I'm using IE9.
Hi,
On the "Search code samples" page, there are 4 filters: "Newest", "Downloading", "Favorites" and "Mine".
Once I click on one of the filters - there's no way to go back and browse through all the samples again.
Thanks,
Sagy
Hi Sagyla
For now, you will need to click the "search" button next to the search textbox to start a new search. But I agree with you that it's not very obvious and even not very convenient. What about this design change: when user click "newest", the search result will show newest samples. When user clicks "newest" again, the search result is restored to the last search. Do you think that it'll be a better experience?
Hi Frank
This extension can be uninstalled in the Extension Manager of the Visual Studio Tools menu.
We appreciate it if you could give us feedback about the extension. We never stop improving the extension to better serve customers' needs.
Thanks

The configuration window that prompts for a location for the code to live doesn't have a close action, and when you close the window from the task bar it immediately opens again. Can we have a close button please for the times that we accidentally open the configuration window via "Search Code Sample" on the context menu.
"Open" does not work.
The following message appears.
"The code sample has been moved. You need to download the sample again"
-------
Visual Studio 2010 sp1 - korean
I tried to reproduce what you mentioned, I downloaded code and removed manually, then I click "Open",
I can see the warning "The code sample has been moved. You need to download the sample again", but the "Open" button changes back to "Download" again to ask for downloading when the warning message disappear, is it the same on your side?
