An Extension of great availability for software developers & designers, Sth will get different as you start tring it!

by DiableNoir | December 28 2010

Very good Extension, but I'm missing dependency diagrams.

@jimflo2008:
For me it's also working with the Ultimate Edition.

Great idea, but it doesn't work at all in VS2010 Ultimate. I get "object not set to an instance of an object" everytime I try to use it. Don’t waste your time downloading it until there is a new version that fixes the issue. I’ve tried V. 0.8.

Nice work, but its too verbose, because it displays all the basic .NET types like Object, List, etc. If you are able to configure this stuff, it would be great!

  • Is Visual Studio 2010 still supported?

    • I used the Visual Studio Extension Manager to try and add the yUML extension and I get an error saying the following:

The extension could not be installed because the following error occurred:

        The extension manifest is invalid.

I see latest version of yUML (0.94) added support for 2012 and 2013. Does yUML still support Visual Studio 2010?

I am using Visual Studio 2010 SP1 Professional (10.0.40219.1) on a Windows 8 Machine. The installed NuGet Package Manager version is the latest (2.7.40808.167)
    • I have the same problem with 2010 Pro and Premium, both SP1.
    • I agree. As of today, I have the same problem. I don't see how to get passed that error, nor do I see any link on the website for support. Strange.
    • Is there previous version available for download?
    • same here, I cannot install in Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate.
  • About "object not set to an instance of an object".

    • @jimflo2008
      Thanks for you review.

This version(v0.8) was developed by VS2010 Ultimate (10.0.30319.1 RTM).
If you selected .aspx file or other files(not .cs file), you may be get a "object not set to an instance of an object" exception.
That is known defect, and I'll fixed it in next version(v0.9).

But before, you can use this extension by select cs file in Solution Explorer.

Also I have already made some test before publish every version, so I don't think "Don’t waste your time downloading it until there is a new version that fixes the issue." is objective review.

    • It works for me at home on VS Premiuim, but not at work on VS Ultimate.

    • Sorry, sent too soon.

I too get the null reference exception when trying to generate a diagrom from a CS file.
    • Same error using VS 2010 Ultimate (10.0.40219.1 SP1Rel).
    • The v0.9 have fixed this question.
      I worked at the VS2010 10.0.40219.1 SP1Rel too.
      -----
      I got that error just when I choose a AssemblyInfo.cs or ****.Designer.cs.
Now, not throw a null Exception even do that.
    • Visual Studio 2010 Pro, 0.9, WinForms and I receive this error.
    • @DonCBurr @Kenjutsu @daughtkom
There was a known-bug when you choose a file which have nested child files in Solution Explorer before v0.91.
      eg. Resource.resx(Resource.Designer.cs) or Service1.cs(Service1.Designer.cs) or Form1.cs(Form1.Designer.cs)

If you encounter this problem, it have been fixed in v0.91.

      Thanks for your feedback.
  • Does this still work for VS 2010 SP1?

    • Nothing seems to happen when I right-click and select yUML on a service class

  • Doesn't Work

    • I'm using VS 2010 Pro.
When I click the button, I only get an htm-page with the content "yUML Expression: [Object]^-[User]".
Does I have to install yUML myself?
    • It takes some time, before the picture gets displayed. (The status bar shows "Downloading..." while the picture is generated)
    • @Phi10101010 That's 2 reasons. First of all, images may be a little big. Secondly, that depend on the speed of visiting the server.
So sorry for I didn't give a better User Experience. I'll try to make it better.

      @DiableNoir Thanks for your answers.

    3 Posts | Last post October 25, 2010
    • I am trying to install it on VS 2010 Express for Windows Phone but receiving a non installable products found , I am working with VS 2010 for Windows Phone.

I assume because it says beta (2010), can you please confirm ?
is there a work around to run it ?

It seems a very useful Extension

      Thanks
    • Express Editions do not support Extensions.

You must use at least the Professional Edition.
    • It's true.
