Useful tools when it works. I've installed and uninstalled this several times over the years. It slows down the IDE and breaks intellisense and collapseable regions. I will not try to install again.

The demo looks like something I would want.

Tried to install the latest version on Visual Studio 2010 pro. It installed but did not have a menu item for it and I could not see what are the keyboard shortcuts. Tried chat with DevExpress they could not help either (they suggested getting the full version...) UnInstalling it.

CodeRush Xpress does not install a menu. This is by design and by request of Microsoft. The features and keyboard shortcuts are documented here: http://community.devexpress.com/blogs/markmiller/archive/2009/06/25/coderush-xpress-for-c-and-visual-basic-2008.aspx

There is also one undocumented key binding, Ctrl+Alt+Shift+O (that's the letter O) for bringing up the options page. From there, on the IDE\Shortcuts page, you can see or change the shortcut bindings.

I've been using this for a while now, and it's been very useful.

based on the video on the description page I would have given this a 5 star rating, but found quite a few of the features mentioned in the video was missing in the Xpress version. After searching online, I have found out that Microsoft told Devexpress to remove certain features. Now If the full version wasn't so expensive I would buy that without second thoughts, for now, I'll make do with xpress version.

  • Does this version work with VS2012?

    • I was pointed to this by the 'Professional Visual Studio 2012' book.

      thanks!

    • I've just watched the C# Intro Video - very impressed! I've downloaded and installed the xpress version, and ran VS2010, it showed the welcome screen, so I kept the "new user" selected and then started a new console application

I don't have a DevExpress menu as descriped in the video, so I'm not sure how to turn on the helper window, or get to the other options... Anyone else have this problem?
      Thanks
    • PS. I also don't seem to have a tool bar.
    • CodeRush Xpress is a light version of CodeRush. It sounds like you watched a video for the full version of CodeRush, and downloaded CodeRush Xpress. If you downloaded the full version of CodeRush you can contact support@devexpress.com and they can help you resolve this issue.
    • The video I watched was the C# intro one on the description tab on this page, at the beginning it said it was the into for the Express version. Since viewing the video I've now done some searching online and found out several features have been removed at the request of Microsoft. The Description page should be updated saying what features, as the express version is quite different from the intro video now. So very misleading.
