On the whole, this a great shell and theme, many thanks for your work. Notwithstanding all the comments re grid lines/no grid lines etc, there are one or two things that really ought to be standard.
For example, if I right-align text in a grid column (numerics usually), the grid column header text does not align right, leaving an ugly visual 'pairing' with the column text. It really does look totally unprofessional. Can something be done about this please?
Further, it was stated by the team that the source for this shell and theme would be made available. Why the hold-up? Surely the source IS available to ship? This was a wish from version 1.0 ( never fulfilled ), but acknowledged and promised for the latest version of LightSwitch.
Many developers are banking on this; the shell and theme as they stand are a good starting point but each developer no doubt has their own set of modifications they wish to make in order to satisfy their customers and many of us are not designers or have the time to develop themes.
Please either release the source code or inform us as to why you have not as yet done so as promised!
New version of LighSwitch needs new look such as this great shell and theme. Control on the bottom (Save and Refresh) are far away from other commands that are positioned on the top, but I don't know where I should place it. Looks very nice but need some improvements such as grid lines definitelly. Excel button are almost unrecognizable. Search text box in List and Detail Screens, when change size of the screen, loose magnifier and right vertical line. All in all, I like it.
To me everything looks great so far except one major issue.
In datagrid I use checkbox columns(readonly) with null, true, and false values. The new theme shows ticked sign for null value, as if null is treated as true. It should show dash for null value as before.
This issue/bug makes this theme unusuable for my application to my dismay, unless I could access the source code to fix the problem.
I wish there is a fixed version or source code available soon. Thanks anyway.
Thank you, very clean and neat. Grid lines a must. Rows disappear when you click on row headers Error when changing list colum size in list and details screen else very cool great change with displaying of error messages
I greatly appreciate that you create different styles so that I have options for my customers. See my comments - Branding: It's very important for one of my customers, so it's great to have it now. Personally I would prefer if I could collapse this section like the toolbar before so that's only a small icon and the user is visible for screens with small resolution. - Read only style for check boxes: Readonly check boxes should be filled with grey color like before. Currently only a nearly invisible border is shown and at first I thought the check boxes are missing. - Grid lines: I can live with and without. Giving us the source of the theme with a small "how to" to make grid lines visible or invisible would be the best solution I think. - Capital letters: The same is true with grid headers in capital letters. I'm happy that you've changed the style from the Metro theme that not all Labels are in capital letters. - Source of shell and theme: The reason why it would be important to have the source is that sometimes customers would request a certain font for the UI and in addition they like the font height to be a bit bigger.
Hi, I downloaded the package and just clicked it. An error is prompted out... "The extension manifest is invalid". May I know how can I overcome it ? Thx:)
Regarding grid lines i think many end users will want the see the grid lines, it will be better if there is a property with grid to show the line or not.
There are some aspects of the shell/theme that I like, & others not so much (like having Refresh & Save buttons on the bottom, which in itself is not a bad idea, but any other added commands appear way over on the right-hand side of the app). The same for the grid commands (pushed over to the right, requiring a lot of mouse movement on a big monitor with a maximised screen). Missing grid lines/alternating row color, as Micheal mentioned is a big negative for me. And it looks like MS is going to Metro-fy everything, whether we like it or not. Of course having the option to switch back to the original is a good move (supplying both options in the box, rather than replacing one with the other).
I can't save da ta nor update hothing... don't know what happens just a lot of work witih it and then this....
the error is:
System.Windows.Data Error: BindingExpression path error: 'Title' property not found on 'Microsoft.LightSwitch.Cosmopolitan.Model.ShellModel' 'Microsoft.LightSwitch.Cosmopolitan.Model.ShellModel' (HashCode=59028125). BindingExpression: Path='Title' DataItem='Microsoft.LightSwitch.Cosmopolitan.Model.ShellModel' (HashCode=59028125); target element is 'Microsoft.LightSwitch.Runtime.Shell.Framework.ScreenChildWindow' (Name=''); target property is 'AutomationProperties.Name' (type 'System.String')..
Have tried other solutions in web but none... please help....

Hi,
For the most part I really like this shell and theme, appart from one thing... I do not want the command bar at the bottom.
Personally I dont mind, but all of my users are now used to the command bar at the top from the old theme and this also ties in with most othere applications, e.g. offcie, outlook, cad/cam software. And my users are going to the top of the creen looking for buttons! I have tried the metro theme from the gallery which enables you to switch the command to the top or bottom at runtime. This would be great for me as the users could set it up how they want it... Failing that I would like to be able to manually change the position of the command bar back to the top and re publish my application. Is this possible?
In v1.0, commands are not being handled very well (see Marden LR's comments as well).
I opened a bug for this (https://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/details/735154/lightswitch-cosmopolitan-shell-theme-not-handling-commands-well).
Eventually, I'd like to get this sample (http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/silverlight/NavigationDemo-having-some-f2629c9c) to work. It runs fine in VS2011beta, but not with this shell & theme. I have real LS applications running, and would like to apply this shell & theme to give them a metro-makeover, but these issues are currently holding me back.
Did anybody succeded to build a LightSwitch solution using these extension with TFS Build Service ? In VS11 every thing is okay, but the build agent fails. (of corse, I have installed the vsix packege on the server that hosts th agent)
