Thank you! I'm glad you like it. There's been a few hiccoughs for a few people apparently (with the logoff button), so I'll try to sort those out as soon as I can. We're down to the last couple of chapters for the book, so hopefully I'll have heaps mre time for things like this soon. Thanks again!

Thanks for sharing this one. Seems to be doing what it says on the tin. Nice extension that I can see many adopting. Good one, Yann! Can't wait for your book, where we'll all find how it's done!
MS may even integrate you ideas into vNext!

    • Any chances of updating your controls etc. to LS 2013? I would very much like to try them out (and donate if they are useful to me).

      Thanks,

    • Hello Yan

Do the buttons appear in LS 2012 using Cosmopolitan shell combined with Infragistics Office 2010 theme? Because I do not see them.

    • Hi Yann,

Any chance you could target VS2013 Preview in your extensions and update them?

      Thanks

    • Hello Yan
There's aproblem with your buttons. They do't confirm if we really want to Save or Cancel an operation.
I executed a wrong operation, for instance deleting a record and saved. The database was immediatly updated with the wrong opperation.
Is it possible to provide them with the confirmation box?
Or, in alternative tell us how we can do it?

    • No, there's no confirmation for a "Save & Close" operation, or for a "Cancel & Close" operation. That's the way the buttons were intended, to close the current screen, & either automatically save or automatically discard any changes for that screen.

I'm not sure I understand why there'd need to be any confirmation. If you want that, wouldn't you just use the screen's built-in Save button, or the x on the tab itself?

    • Hi Yann,
First of all congratulations for your exellent job in lightswitch !!!
      ====
when I translated my application in French
the menu is still in English
      what is the solution?
    • Excuse me yann !!!!
i found the solution here :http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/lightswitch/thread/fd348b2a-30b0-48fc-b240-efd48990a1bd
    • Hi Djom, yes, that's the current solution. I'm working on a better one, but having some trouble wih it. What about a resource file with the strings in it? Are you familiar with that way of changing string values? Would that work for you?
    • of course i am familiar with this way .For me it's a really simple way.
Yes it's work for me on the desktop but on the web i have some problems
      with the logoff button
    • yann,
sometimes i have this error message: a member must have at least one accessor
and the buttons are not visible
    • I occasionally see that message myself, but nothing consistent enough for me to be able to track it down & "fix it". It's only ever been during debugging for me though, not in a published app.
    • Any news on this error?

Getting: "Server Error in '/' Application."
      When i click logout

      Getting: "Failed to Invoke: Close."
      When i click close

      Hi Yan,
I see tha these 2 problems come from the files not being there : LogOffAspx for example, and its directiry /Luminous. etc..
I am using Chrome, but its the same on IE7, localhaost or real web server.
The 4 other funcctions work fine.
ope you fond asolution, I would like to use your product.

    • Hi Yann,

I really appreciate your extensions, just added them to the app and they are working great so far.:)
I would like to make a suggestion for improvement for your next version: can you make the 'Screen' and 'Application' group labels also editable (maybe with something like a [Export("ScreenCommand.DisplayName")] setting as you did with the button labels)?

      Best regards,
      Traian
    • Hi Traian,

Thanks for the great suggestion! The next version does indeed have a lot more values that can be set by the user (with a method that's much more user-friendly than the Export method was). With the drastic change that was made to LS V2's "default theme", it meant that Luminous Commands didn't work all that well with the change of layout.

I haven't been able to get much done with V2 yet at all (despite several attempts), so I haven't done much work lately on the extensions (something I'd really like to get back to!).

I haven't abandonned them, but they've had to go on a back burner while I get some paid work done.

Are you still using LS V1? Or have you moved to V2 yet?

    • Is there a fix for the log off button issue? Would love to use it!
    • Sorry to everyone who's question has gone unsanswered over the last few months. I won't bore you with all that happaned. I still haven't caught up enough to be able to devote the time that I need for updating all of my extensions.

I still have plans to enhance them (quite a few improvements to various extensions have already been made, but they're not tested yet), I just don't have the time yet.

    • Hello Yann, I know you were busy with the book but I am wondering if you came up with a solution for the following error:

      Server Error in '/' Application.
      --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      The resource cannot be found.
Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Please review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly.

      Requested URL: /Luminous.Commands.Server;component/LogOff.aspx

      --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Version Information: Microsoft .NET Framework Version:2.0.50727.5448; ASP.NET Version:2.0.50727.5420

      Thanks!
      Russ
    • Hi Russ,

I have had the chance to look at the problem, but I can't find the solkution yet, so I'll be releasing an updatede version of the extension, that has the LogOff command set to not visible by default for new users, and a very easy way to make it not visible for existing users.

If you have Microsoft's Productivity Power Tools installed (for VS) you'll automatically get an update notification when I publish the new version. If you're not using it, I highly recommend that you give it a try, it has lots of helpful features in it.
    • Same error here. if you have any solution please let me know.

If have u any idea about how to remove only Log Off button from Luminous LightSwitch Commands also let me know.
    • Yann,

I know you've said that this problem only occurs in certain browsers but not others. I've tried it in IE9, Firefox 12, and Chrome 19. All with no luck.

I decided to try an implement Matt Evans version and ran into the same error. I was able to correct it by adding a BuildFile Include to the project file.

I don't know the first thing about writing extensions so I don't know if this is any help. But it might give you something to look at.

I've details the steps I took to get Matt Evans solution working in VS11 Beta here: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/lightswitch/thread/eebdcafe-b967-43cd-bab8-6b85524f9d05

Hope this helps and I'll keep an eye out for the next version.
