Visual Assist X

(Free Trial)
JamesCPP | October 23 2009

Great tool. When it comes to my IDE, I'm a minimalist, but this tool is a must have.

DCMOHG | October 15 2009

Absolutely the best addon I ve ever used.

Jim Johnson | October 14 2009

I've used this for years. A must have.

Mike ONeill | October 07 2009

I have just purchased my 4th annual license extension -- enough said.

I loaded a trial years back gave it a few days and bought it , its been getting progessively better since. The new release cylce adds new extras in almost quarterly and fixes what few bugs there are monthly .

The support is brilliant with guys who are real coders answering your queries, the community alive and contributing, there are comments virtually every day.

Some of the best bits adding into intellesense make life a dream. Acronyms makes it like programming in shorthand and with my typo's I need it BUT.
The refactoring may be little limited compared with "others" but they are really the ones you want not a whole range of bloat you never use.
VA Outline is an absolute must , navigation to methods in split seconds , Microsoft should "copy" this tool as a std in VS , but meanwhile I have it !!

I suppose the accolade is if i had to turn it off i would have to relearn how to code

Keep up the good work, heres to another year....

SmugFish | October 02 2009

most useful Visual Studio add-in

christian.freund | September 30 2009

Very good tool.
It is worth its cost and helps a lot.
Has unique features, is fast, stable and does what it promises.

MrHooHa | September 29 2009

Best thing to come along since sliced bread. I don't know how I worked without it all these years.

JArcherABB | September 28 2009

This is a wonderful product that adds all the missing features to the Visual Studio editing environment. Many features that MS added for C# but for reasons unknown left didn't make available to the C\C++ developer. Saves me at least an hour a day just in the code completion and improvements to intellisense. A must-have for any serious C++ developer.

GeneralCody | September 08 2009

Very, very, very nice product. I'm doing both C# and C++ coding, and before I discovered this program, I had the ReSharper C# formatting/code completion product, but no C++ support.

This is a time saver. Best product I've tried for extending the functionality of Visual Studio 2008.

I'm programming in C++, using Visual Studio 2003 and 2005. I cannot live without IntelliSense. However IntelliSense has various bugs and limitations. Stops working in some functions or entire files, F12 jumps to an incorrect place, crashes when mouse is in certain code areas, etc. Therefore I looked for a tool that would fix or replace IntelliSense.

Visual Assist X not only replaces IntelliSense, but also adds many other very useful features, such as refactoring. Everything is logic, configurable, works fine and quite fast. Also the help is excellent. The price is surprisingly low for such an excellent tool.

Only a couple of small complaints. Installing and uninstalling Visual Assist X resets your customized Visual Studio toolbars.

Phil140 | September 01 2009

This is an excellent tool for re-factoring. I use it for renaming variable names and class names etc.. It means I don't have to worry about choosing a perfect name initially, because I can easily change it later. Also excellent for navigating references to variables etc.. Easily pays for itself in time savings.

I have been using Visual Assist since the Visual Studio 6.0 days. I can't stand the though of coding without Visual Assist and Visual Studio. VA-X is such an an amazing productivity enhancer that I go out of my way to use Visual Studio with Visual Assist in a Windows XP Virtual Machine hosted on a Linux Box for all my Linux C/C++ projects as well as my standard Windows product programming!

Coderider | July 16 2009

I have been purchasing a personal copy of this add-in for several years now.
It's Gotta Have It for me. I don't like programming without it.
Support has been great (not that I need alot. It is very solid).

Merich10 | July 08 2009

Absolutely the most useful C++ development tool available today, hands down.

Grys73 | July 02 2009

great work!

Thomas Molitor | July 02 2009

Best VS tool I have used so far. I am using VAX with C/C++ and C# using managed and unmanaged projects under VS2005/2008.

magmy | June 26 2009

I installed Visual Assist X mainly because Intellisense keeps crashing Studio 2008 when I edit header files of large projects. The crashes are now gone. Visual Assist X is quite useful. I miss some flexibility in the "snipplets" when it comes to customisation, but all in all: it is a great product.

MatthewChudleigh | June 24 2009

If you're developing in C++, this is a must have. C# / .Net are fine without it.

Amit Ben Shahar | June 22 2009

A must for every developer, makes coding easier and much faster, leaving the developer to focus on thinking instead of typing and reading. Cannot live without it

Yves Tkaczyk | June 13 2009

The best addin for Visual C++. I have been using it since working on VC++6.0 and it is such a time saver.

Dorel2 | June 12 2009

A must have for a C++ developer.

Troy Davis | June 03 2009

This program is absolutely a must have application for any programmer. It saves tons of time writing code and helps to maintain error free code by prompting you with class information you've already entered, so spelling errors are practically eliminated.

Sirmont | June 01 2009

Visual Assist isn't the normal plug-in that eases development or makes some complicated tasks easier. It is a *ABSOLUTE MUST HAVE* that makes ALL simple tasks easier. When you take productivity into account, the license price is awfully low. If your employer doesn't pay for this software, buy it yourself: your gain in productivity will be so great that you will get it in salary increase on your next review guaranteed.

Try it and if you don't purchase it when the trial expires, you probably forgot to install it because it's impossible to program C++ without it once you tried.

And as if this wasn't enough, Whole Tomato's support forum is active and alive. The company's staff is helpfull and willing to improve the software.

A DEFINITE MUST HAVE. UNARGUABLY.

Atomix Productions | May 27 2009

This tool is as vital to a programmer as a bible is to a priest.
Once you start using it, it gets impossible to work more than a few minutes on another computer that doesn't have it installed (which can get very unconvenient if you need to do some work at other people's desks)
It's definitely on my list of top10 things I would take with me on a desert island :p

WizardOz | May 20 2009

Great time saver.

Richard Pineo | April 30 2009

As users of VAssist for years and years, it is a no-brainer to renew their support license. it makes programming much nicer/faster, particularly for those of us with RSI or carpal tunnel problems.

kabesser | April 23 2009

Don´t wanna miss this tool, it´s great

Zach1 | April 08 2009

Visual Assist does everything that Visual Studio doesn't (and arguably should)... enough said.

Marcus Lindblom | April 08 2009

I've used it for 4-5 years now and purchaed it at every compant I've been at. Nuff said. :)

Michael Bruschkewitz | March 14 2009

Incredible improvement of coding performance even with default settings. After some days, using Visual Studio w/o this tool becomes "vi"-like experience.

Laurent Mascherpa | March 10 2009

I started to use VA 10 years ago in a small company, recently I started a new project and evaluated the latest version. I have to admit, I was really surprised the progress the product has made. If you are still programming in C++ (like me), it's probably a must have.

Ben Straub | February 27 2009

Amazingly fast with large C++ codebases.

MickeM | February 21 2009

simply the best thing ever!

DartView | February 20 2009

C++ RAD!

Oliver I. | February 18 2009

Visual Assist speeds up general programming and makes design re-decisions in the middle of development a task of minutes.

baxissimo | February 18 2009

Visual Studio just isn't Visual Studio without Visual Assist X!

AJRock | February 05 2009

VA makes my day so much easier. I have used it for several years now and this is one tool I would not want to be without.

ChasMe | February 03 2009

This one is worth it. You don't have to know the secret keystrokes to get something out of this one; it's right there when you need it, but never gets in your way. First tool of this kind I've ever found worth paying for.

Jere_Jones | January 31 2009

Visual Assist X is the single most valuable add-in I have for Visual Studio.

Bob Clarke1 | January 30 2009

VA makes coding easier and faster by providing shortcuts, helpful hints, list, and various configuration options to make Visual Studio work more like you want it to.

dwight12 | January 14 2009

It's helping me with driver development inside Visual Studio 2008.

Mark Malburg | January 05 2009

I cannot code without it!

steveili | December 31 2008

best assistant for VS developper!

Miwa1 | December 30 2008

Can't live without it.

noncorporeal | December 02 2008

A great product that is kept current, has quality releases, is reasonably priced and still works with and maintained for Visual Studio 6.

Miðgarðsormr | December 02 2008

Love it. It provides a good productivity boost!

SvenC | November 22 2008

Excellent intellisense enhancements which save me lots of time when reading, typing, browsing, analyzing and refactoring code.

Good support - at least until two years ago where I had found a few minor bugs for the last time which all got resolved.

In the last two years it all just works for me in VS6, 2003, 2005 and 2008. So I expect support to be still superb but I just had not need to use it. So count me a happy user for more than 5 years.

Keep up the good work and thanks for such a great tool.

Ross O'Dwyer | November 19 2008

The tool is great but the inability to purchase maintenance for a personal edition is pretty poor, in particular when it's a significant purchase for an individual in the first place and the rate of product advancement has slowed so that there's no guarantee of a significant update in the 6 month window provided. - It does increase productivity wonderfully though and I find myself lost without it.

hardwire1 | November 18 2008

Every time I turned Eclipse off and started Visual Studio, it was a painful expirience. Until I found Visual Assist :)

KenThompson1 | November 05 2008

Hugely helpful. This is a must have for any C++ development - it has saved me so much time!

suplik | October 25 2008
