PowerCommands for Visual Studio 2008

(Free)

Great commands and useful almost every day.

Heh one quirky (odd ball) behaviour I noticed. How come I can't seem to permanently close nor disable the undo close window? :-)

I hide it, hit the X .. sometime later it pops back up. Guess it uncloses itself?

This add-in simply rocks. There are some that I don't use, but many I use every day. Collapsing an entire solution is priceless!

jacobcoens | maggio 26 2009

Couldn't use it as Visual Studio exited when opening a solution.

Hope to enable running the output exe file assembly out of VS from the same context menu (no debugging indeed).
Like: Run Output Assembly!

Thanks

I really love the PowerCommands. I think this is a must-have for all VS users. My favorite commands are Clear Recent Project List and Edit Project File.

I have a new development machine since three weeks. I thought that I have all configured but It wasn’t. Today, I need to collapse all projects in the solution and to copy a project path and I realized that I’ve not installed PowerCommands for VS2008. From my expirience before to install the package you should close all VS instances. I had a bad experience with this some time ago. I installed the package and commands didn't appear in my VS even after I restarted it. After I closed all VS instances and re-install the commands I got them into VS. I also ran into a problem when I open some aspx page into the designer VS2008 is automatically closed and I lost all changes.

It was great until I tried to add controls to the toolbox using choose items. This would cause VS 2008 to just close with no error. After googling I found an entry that said this was caused by Power Commands. I uninstalled them and I was able to add items to the toolbox. It is toobad, I really liked the features.

Was nice, but I had to deinstall because VS2008 got closed when opening xaml files.

Downright awesome!

Fantastic! I got this a couple weeks ago. It is worth the download just to colapse the projects in the solution window in one click of the mouse. Better yet.... copying those references from one project to another with out having to deal with the add reference dialog over and over again.

Thanks for all the time saving features.

Some features were nice, half of the features didn't seem to work. Disabling/enabling features would not remove them from the IDE.

for it is free!!!

Looking at a file's properties just to find the physical location gets old really fast! This little add-in is worth it for the Open Containing Folde alone!

I really love the PowerCommands. I think this is a must-have for all VS users. My favorite commands are Clear Recent Project List and Edit Project File. Within the IDE, there is no way to clear the MRU project list without PowerCommands. Seeing out-of-date projects on the MRU list annoy me, so I like being able to remove them. Editing project file is very convenient if you need to tweak the project file in the editor. Without this command, you will need to unload the project first before you bring it up in the editor.

    • Hello.

When I attempt to copy references (or a single reference) between projects using PowerCommands for VS2008 I get the following error:

error hresult e_fail has been returned from a call to a com component

      Any ideas?
  • Where is the VS2010 compatible version?

    • Any plans to have this available anytime soon??
    • Yes. We are working on updating the Powercommands to work with Visual Studio 2010 but they won't be ready for the Beta. We don't have a firm date yet on when these will be ready but we'll try to post them as soon as possible.
    • The VS 2010 Beta 2 version is now available.
      Try it out!

  • Be able to organize PowerCommands into a submenu
    1 Posts | Last Post: ottobre 06, 2009
    • After installing Team Explorer, PowerCommands and a few other tools, I get a contextmenu list on project items which no longer fits on my screen (1680x1050). So would it be possible to add a configuration option for each menu to show it in a submenu?
So if the option is enabled, it should have another checkbox stating 'show in submenu'. All items that have that checkbox checked should then appear in the same submenu 'PowerCommands' of the contextmenu. Similar to how the Add or Debug submenus work on the contextmenu of a project.
