Not a bad idea at first
But I don't know what advantage has be brought
I think you should put something useful for the buttons

VSBuildStatus is better even though its installation is not straight forward

Some things that are problems though:

a) When I switch solutions, the warning or error icon (assuming the case) in the taskbar should be removed instead of remaining from the last solution.

b) With multiple monitors and tools such as UltraMon, it doesn't work (on the secondary monitor).

1) Wire into the projects being built and show the name of the project being built currently in the preview

2) Elapsed time and/or time of last build?

Only really handy if you have a few VS projects on the go at the same time.

I like the buttons added under the preview. I don't see a progress bar during a build though.

Doesn't work. No explanation, no documentation. The link in the uninstaller points to a non-related sourceforge website...

This is a wonderful add-on. I really want to know how he did it.

    • Will there be a VS2012-compatible version?

    • It would be really nice, if taskbar icon (after compilation with warnings for instance) would be cleared if I close the solution.
  • Error loading plugin

    • The Add-in 'Win7 Taskbar Extension' failed to load or caused an exception.
Would you like to remove this Add-in?
If you choose yes, the file it was loaded from, 'C:\Users\My Account\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\Addins\Win7Taskbar.AddIn', will be renamed.
      Error Message: <Unknown Error>
      Error number: 80131604
    • Debugged and discovered that Windows API Code Pack was not installed together with add-in. This was missing dependency. Strange, because API code pack exists in MSI package.
  • Can't install when My Documents is on a network drive

    • I'm having trouble installing plugin since my workplace enforces My Documents to point at a default user share.
It tries installing it at \\My Documents Network Path\\Visual Studio 2010\Addins. The trouble is caused by the second "\\" in the install path.
    • I think it is a MS installer issue, but you can install plugin to any local folder and then copy all files to your %DOCUMENTS% manually. After all you can safely uninstall plugin from local folder.
Or you can get here archive with plugin's files, and unpack it to "Visual Studio 2010\Addins" folder.
