This control works fine with VS 2013 Update 2 and 3. For those having issues with a project reference, check the documentation or use the project wizard which sets up the reference correctly. You can also post questions to the MSDN forums

Does not work with Visual Studio 2013 update 3. Is not imported to the project correctly (reference error).

Lost a day to try to get this working with Visual Studio 2013 Update3.
Useless... Like some many times before with other older versions of Bing Maps for Windows 8 Apps there are just to many problems just too get it working.
Couldn't it just be a NuGet package by the way?

Nice one but :
1. can't add events on tap on mapicons... Why ???
2. Map icon are not always visible... that is so crazy... and to me and a lot of people why ?
3. When you try to create pushpin with shapes like ellispes and so on... you can the add event on it but... when you move your map with your finger or zoom the map move faster than your pushpins and it make crazy poor effects...

is there a work around to bypass all those... how to say bugs ? i dont know...

I'm struggling to use this SDK with a Win 8.1 XAML application. It continues to tell me it can't find the SDK and I've changed my configuration to x86. I did have the previous 8.0 version installed, but I uninstalled that.

Great SDK but why no NuGet?

Unable to use this SDK with SDK for Windows 8.0 alongside :(

Great Map API - easy to use, great functionality.

by Ricky_Brundritt | October 31 2013

I've used this SDK in about 15 different sample applications so far and haven't had any issues with it.

I downloaded the SDK & ran my app, run great. Got rid of annoying touch bug as well!

    • Any user control can be added to the map and used as a pushpin. You can also add click events to user controls very easily. When a map icon is out of view of the map it is hidden. It is not shown again until the map view has changed such that it is in view again. This is done for performance and makes a huge difference, especially when you have a lot of data. We can visualize 10x the data because of this. Using ellipses as pushpins is fine and is what I do. It makes no difference in performance. Take a look at my free ebook that shows you how to do all of these things easily with the map control: https://rbrundritt.wordpress.com/my-book/
  • Visual Studio 2015 Preview
    1 Posts | Last post January 01, 2015
    • This SDK fails to install in Visual Studio 2015 (not surprising), but the real question is: Do you guys have some ETA for when it will work with VS2015 ?
  • Dashed MapPolyline's
    2 Posts | Last post January 30, 2014
    • Is there anyway to make a MapPolyline dashed, if not could this be added in a future update because this would be a very nice and useful feature.
    • It's best to ask these types of questions in the Bing Maps forums. This question has been addressed here: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/7f54034f-4e16-47fa-ad88-b94f2dbba269/dashed-line-for-polygons?forum=bingmapswindows8
  • Can't use the Bing Maps Win8.1 SDK for VS2013 with Bing Maps Win8 SDK for VS2012 alongside
    1 Posts | Last post December 31, 2013
    • We have to develop both Windows 8.0 and 8.1 apps, but if I install the Bing Maps Win8.1 SDK for Visual Studio 2013 (Version 1.313.825.0), I can't use anymore the Bing Maps Win8.0 SDK for Visual Studio 2012 (Version 1.113.601.2) on the same machine. This is a very annoying issue. Please fix it!
      Thanks
