Tried installing, but the installer failed telling me I need a version of .NET that I don't have, even though I have pretty much every version installed.

Asked question, but the author didn't bother replying.

Thank you for your efforts, however the package fails to initialise on my VS2010 installation.

Excellent, thanks.

Clean, simple and just what I needed. Caveat: It does appear to occasionally add a bogus file (e.g. with no filename) when grouping files that have multiple extensions (like, but that is easy to correct and this has saved me loads on manual editing of my csproj files. THANK YOU!

Finally! This is what Microsoft should have included a long time ago! Thank to José - 5 star from me.

Does exactly what it says it does, very helpful! It would be great if it could provide a context menu option when right-clicking a file to add a nested file under the selected file.

Lightweight, seconds to install, and works just as advertised. Great job!

Excelente fix! Thanks for sharing it.

The extension is great. One suggestion, however. When I select two items, I often have to click the drop-down to change the suggested root. Would be great if the extension could be more intelligent at guessing the root. For example, if you choose a .cshtml and .cs file, suggest the .cshtml as the root. Or maybe if it's easier, suggest the root as the first clicked item.

  • Tells me I need a version of .NET that I don't have

    • Tried installing, but the installer failed (see above).
      I have VS2013 Ultimate and have .NET 4, 4.5, 4.5.1 and 4.6 installed.
      Why won't it install?

    • Hi ,
My file names are a little bit long (30-40 chars). When I wanto to nest them , some part of file names appear in combo box and I can not understand which one is I want to make root .
Can you make something for this.

    • Can you tell me where the nesting data is stored? Can it be shared in a project / soln?
  • Nesting doesn't work in VS2013 Update 1

    • When I nest in a javascript file, it seems to have worked but it can't be opened and after refreshing the solution explorer, the javascript file is at it's former position (unnested) again. A copy with an exclamation sign in front still is at it's destination position. What am I doing wrong?
      Thank you!
  • Version 1.1.4 not current
    1 Posts | Last post January 09, 2014
    • Is there a reason why the current version is 1.1.1 and not 1.1.4? I'm having issues since the current version does not work in VS2012...
Furthermore I'm not able to compile the sources from github on my own, saying that two project types are not supported (tried with 2010, 2012, 2013).
Could you raise the current version back to 1.1.4 again and give me a hint on how to compile the sources on my own?
      Best regards

    • You may wish to report your error on the github repo, as it will likely be dealt with more promptly there.

  • Keyboard Shortcuts?
    2 Posts | Last post September 05, 2013
    • Hello, I love this extension and I use it very frequently at work. I was wondering if there was a way to set up a keyboard shortcut for the nestin command?
    • Never mind - I found it.
Tools -> Options -> Environment (on the left) -> Keyboard.
Then select the command ProjectandSolutionContextMenus.Item.NestItem for nesting, and ProjectandSolutionContextMenus.Item.UnNestitem for unnesting.
