Just to let you know: there are some bugs in 1.19 release when running with Visual Studio 2015 and MVC 5 project, with "ASP.NET Scaffolding T4 files" templates. They do not allow to create controllers nor views, because of "Compiling transformation" error. Errors are in Create.cs.t4 and Edit.cs.t4 files. They are easy to correct, just remove <# #> before each 'else' where there is no '{' before 'else'. the 'else' keyword must be preceeded with '{' sign.

Great resource and much easier than building templates by hand. Much

Great templates, every other open source project should be contributing templates to this project!

Installs in VS2013 Ultimate SP3... AND WILL show up in list of installed extensions... but, when I search for "angular" in installed extensions, no sidewaffle ANGULAR templates are found. When trying to create a "NEW PROJECT" from the file menu... no angular project or item templates are found either.

Excellent set of templates. A must for Angular development in Visual Studio!

Great Templates, but the Version 1.0.2 can't be installed:

Very cool stuff, it installed properly for VS 2012, but not VS 2013 any clues why?

I haven't tried this yet but I did install it. I've already recommended this to all my coworkers and past coworkers that do programming.

Thank you Mads Kristensen, you ROCK!!!

  • Error debugging - Chrome Extension Template
    1 Posts | Last post November 14, 2015
      When trying to debug a project using the chrome extension template, I am getting the error: "The page cannot be run in debug mode because debugging is not enabled in the Web.config file...". I also cannot select a browser to debug in. I then noticed the template had created the following file in the project: "DebugSettings.template.xml". I compared this file to my CSPROJ file and saw that they differed on the <ProjectExtensions> node. So on a whim I deleted the values of that node from CSPROJ and replaced with the template file values. When I reloaded my project, I could now see the option for which browser to debug but still get the same error. Any thoughts as to what I am missing?
  • Where are the "SideWaffle Project Template Files"?
    6 Posts | Last post August 07, 2015
    • HI I see these on the Project site but I can't find them in file new Project?
      SideWaffle Definitions Folder
      SideWaffle Item Template
      SideWaffle Project Template Files
      Also I get and Error when I try to use the SideWaffle Extensibility Project"Your name here"?
    • anyone?
    • Same problem here. I had SideWaffle installed successfully in VS2012. I believe I also saw them in VS2013. Since installing update 2 they are gone.
      Reinstalled SideWaffle for VS2013 only. Installation went file. Restarting VS2013 shows a message 'initializing project templated' or something like that. No SideWaffle templates are visible in the New Project dialog. I have VS2012 Pro and VS2013 Pro installed side by side.
    • I created a Github issue for this...
    • In VS 2013 Ultimate I only see
      SideWaffle Project Template Files when I try to add an new item.
      I am missing SideWaffle Item Template
    • @Paul M Cohen
      Were you able to get this resolved? Please note, if your project was a VB project the template was missing from those projects until version 1.18.
  • Directive Usage
    2 Posts | Last post July 03, 2015
    • Hello,
      I just tried and there is a small comment that bugs me. When I create a directive, it adds a usage comment that does not look right (unless I missed something). This is the usage with the directive written camelcase :
              .directive('directiveTest', directiveTest);
              // Usage:
              //     <directiveTest></directiveTest>
    • Thanks for the feedback. I created issue 285 to resolve this.
      I'll take a look and see if we can resolve this.
  • Sidewaffle will not create a project
    2 Posts | Last post June 04, 2015
    • I am trying to create a Basic Scaffolding project per the instructions here
      The instructions say that two projects will be created. When I do this, only one project is created. The project that ends with Extensions is not created. A directory for the project is created but the directory is empty.
      I use the default name of BasicScaffolder (I have tried other names too)
      I set the location of the project to be c:\myTemplates or any other specific folder
      I set it to "Create new solution"
      I have tried it with "Create directory for solution" checked and unchecked
      After I hit the "OK" button in the "New Project" dialog box, I get an error message that contains something like:
      A problem was encountered creating the sub project 'BasicScaffolder2Extension'. The project file c:\users\jnothstine\AppData\Local\Temp\bmywi251.vsv\Temp\BasicScaffolder2Extension.csproj' cannot be opened.
      There is a missing project subtype.
      Subtype: '{82b43b9b-a64c-4715-b499-d71e9ca2bd60}' is unsupported by this installation.
      When I try using "Create in new instance" instead of "Create new solution" I get the message:
      Could not find template with ID:
      I browsed to that folder and the solution looks to be complete. I double clicked the solution from there and got a migration report. The report said:
      The application which this project type is based on was not found. Please try this link for further information:;projecttype=82b43b9b-a64c-4715-b499-d71e9ca2bd60
      The Extensions project is a problem there too. Any guess as to what I am missing here?
    • I figured out the problem, at least for Visual Studio 2013. I needed to install the Microsoft Visual Studio 2013 SDk. I didn't see mention of that in the documentation anywhere. This makes it so I can create the project in Visual Studio 2013 but I haven't found a solution for Visual Studio 2015.
  • Why isn't there an AngularJS provider template included with SideWaffle?

    • Why isn't there an AngularJS provider template included with SideWaffle?
    • Hi, our templates are made by individuals who are proficient in their respective field. I believe we are a bit short staffed at the moment when it comes to AngularJS experts. You're more than welcome to create a template request on the issues page of the SideWaffle issues page.
      If you have experience with AngularJS and want to create new item templates for the project we would welcome your contribution.
    • Created an issue for this
    • Added the Provider template. Whenever 1.17 is released you should see it.
  • Won't install

    • I can't get this extension or SideWaffle to install into VS 2013. When I ran the installer the first time it only showed VS 2012 and it successfully installed. The second time I ran it, it said that there were all eligible installed products already had this extension. I'm having the same problem with Web Essentials. I checked the installed packages & extensions list carefully and neither extension is already installed in VS 2013. Is there a problem with some VSIX installers and systems like mine that have VS 2012 & VS 2013 installed side by side?
    • Hi I'm not sure what's happening here. This sounds like an issue with Visual Studio itself. Have you tried repairing VS?
    • Hi, did anyone get to the bottom of this? I have 2012/2013 installed side by side and am having the same problem. Only installs to 2012?
    • If your Visual Studio is Express edition, the extensions don't work
    • I also can't install on VS Express 2013 for Web. Error log shows:
      3/22/2015 12:59:04 PM - VSIXInstaller.NoApplicableSKUsException: This extension is not installable on any currently installed products.
         at VSIXInstaller.App.InitializeInstall()
         at System.Threading.Tasks.Task.InnerInvoke()
         at System.Threading.Tasks.Task.Execute()
    • Hi Kerry, as J Ocatvio said in his comment SideWaffle only works for all versions of Visual Studio 2013 except for the Express editions. Because you have Express 2013 for Web you will not be able to install SideWaffle. I recommend that you upgrade to the Community Edition. It's free and will let you install SideWaffle as well.
  • "Code Snippet Extension" don't work after updating on Visual Studio 2013, sometimes.
    1 Posts | Last post March 10, 2015
    • Hi. I created some Code Snippet Extension by using this project template.
      This is very useful for me.
      But, these don't work after updating on Visual Studio 2013, sometimes.
      Did I skip any important procedure?
      Code Snippets Manager display many same name. But these path are different. These include old version which updated. And sometimes, there is not last version path, after updating. Therefor, It seems that it don't work, sometimes.
      If Code Snippets registory key is same path, between before and after updating, then this problem will not occur, as far as I look from this.
      Would you solve this problem?
  • Templates not available in VS Cordova project
    3 Posts | Last post March 09, 2015
    • The siddlewaffle templates for NG are not available in e Visual Studio Hybrid Cordova Project.
      Can I enable them in one or another way?
    • Hi, I'm not sure if there is a way to enable it at the moment. However, we are aware of the issue and are working to fix it.
    • Bart.NET, if you read the issue found here ( you will find that the last comment explains why they are not enabled in Visual Studio.
  • Won't install

    • Same as roschler, won't install if 2012 and 2013 are installed side by side. When you run the install it will only pick up 2012. BTW 2013 is Web express. Has anybody with this configuration got it to work?
    • Extensions are not supported in the express editions.
      There should not be any side by side issues. I have both installed and it works for both.
