Anticipating a stable release. This will be a great extension to VS. Version 1.3.1 does not work for me, but I will be checking back for new releases.

Hello Michael,

We have made few defect fixes as per the new API changes. Please download the latest version and let us know if it fixes the issues you have faced. Thanks for the feedback and keep it coming.

by FishSt1ck | April 02 2015

Installed it for the nice sounding features but can't get it to work.

* Get an error when opening the team room
* Get an error when its trying to load the chat
* VS2013 crashed when trying to open it

I'll try it again when it's more stable, it's currently unusable

We are running an on-premises instance of TFS and I get an error when loading chats. It will post to the room but will not read. Should be very cool once it works for me.

BTW, if it works, please don't forget to change the rating :-)

I just installed the older version (1.2) and the chat works fine. But it crashes Visual Studio 2013 when the pop-up notification runs. I'm still giving you guys 5 stars because this is going to be awesome once it becomes stable.

by Jeremy Noble | July 23 2014

Exactly what I was looking for! Using for a couple of hours and working well...

by Dr AlexK | March 30 2014

Awesome, just what should be in VS 2013! Notifications!

by Srikanth Sakhamuri | February 17 2014

This is awesome, where I can have my chat windows in different screens helps me to focus on my stuff and see who is available.

by Christian Kittel | February 10 2014

Nice Extension for VS 2013 :-)

But i think the extension sometimes has problems with Dns-Aliases. Also the tray-notification does not work when someone mentions me :-(

by INIM'' | February 09 2014

Excellent, i really love Team Rooms Extension.
There is only a stuff that i hate about it, the white border also in dark theme.. Is possible to solve it ? thanks.

by felickz | January 10 2014

excellent, how did TFS team get away with not implementing this?

by codepic | January 03 2014

This is really good. As it's always a bad thing for productivity the more you need to switch between applications. However, could we have direct linking to tasks? Visual Studio Online supports linking to tasks with a hash tag. So, let's say you want to ask someone to help with task ID 1160, you'd simply type #1160 in your message and the room would get a link to the task.

Thanks for your feedback! We know this limitation and it is in our backlog. We will pick this up as soon after our upcoming version(1.2.6) is live. Stay tuned.

by Jan Lesage | December 19 2013

I like this extension because it enables me to stay inside my IDE. I did find a small bug I believe, after you create a task for example then on the web interface it shows Task #x however in the Team Rooms extension, this gets shown as Changeset #x

Thank you Jan for your feedback. The functionality mentioned by you is not implemented in to the extension yet. We are currently working on next version of extension and unfortunately our backlog is full. We will pick this up as soon as our development for upcoming version is complete. Thank you for your understanding.

Sounds very good! But for me the list of available rooms is always empty. do miss something?

It seems like Raymond is right. I deleted all other rooms :) Now it works perfect. Thanks

Thank you for confirming sko. We are continuing to investigate this. I am glad Raymonds proposed work around has resolved this for you. We are targeting to get a fix for this issue. We'll keep you posted.

by Raymond Hartog | October 29 2013

This is a great new feature for Visual Studio! I had the same issue; empty available rooms.
I figured out that you have to be member of all teams. After adding me to all teams, the available rooms is filled
A strange behavior pops-up if you remove yourself from one of the teams. The list will be partly populated.

Thank you Raymond, you are a gem! Thank you for posting this work around. We are investigating this issue and are targeting to get to the bottom of this issue at the earliest.

  • Update plugin for VS 2015

    • Hi guys,

Are there any plans to upgrade the plugin for VS 2015?
      Thanks
  • VS2013 - empty page when opening team room
    11 Posts | Last post August 26, 2015
    • Hi, very excited about this feature. however it doesn't to work in my setup - Visual Studio Premium 2013 Update 4) + TFS Online.
Installed ok, I can see my rooms in the list. However, selecting any of them doesn't change anything in the main window. It's completely white and doesn't show any elements (buttons, etc). I've re-installed the extension, restarted VS, machine - nothing so far. Anything you could recommend? Thanks
    • Same problem:
Visual Studio Ultimate 2013, Version 12.0.31101.00 Update 4
      Microsoft .NET Framework Version 4.5.51641
    • Snap!
    • Not even the "User Information" side-bar or the "Post a message" box at the bottom?

I get both of those but a white main area until the room contains at least 1 message, after which the main area refreshes to show the message list in my (Dark) theme.
    • Hi Gerboa,
No, I don't see either of those items. The entire 'Team Rooms' window is white. I've tried posted a message from the VSO Website but I see nothing coming through in VS.
    • More of the same here. VS 2013 with VSO.
    • I notice that in the Team Rooms list, 'Last Activity' shows correctly. So general comms with VS seems to be working.
      But no display. :-(
    • I've just installed 1.3.2, and get the same issue with Visual Studio Pro update 4.
    • Same with me 1.3.2
    • Same here. Just a completely empty white page. VSO says I'm in the room, so there is some communication.
    • same error... white screen... any one found any solution???

      Does it work for VS2015?
    • Hey guys, are you working on a version for Visual Studio 2015? Thanks!
  • Error when installin 1.3.2
    3 Posts | Last post July 10, 2015
    • I get the error

The extension 'Team Rooms for Visual Studio 2013' requires a version of the .NET Framework that is not installed.

I try to install in VS 2013 Ultimate however I also have VS 2015 installed.
    • The quick-n-dirty solution to this is:
      1. Download the vsix package file.
      2. Open the vsix file as an archive (e.g. using 7-zip).
      3. Edit the extension.vsixmanifest file in the archive.
      4. Change the Dependency version attribute from "4.5" to "[4.5,)" (yes, open bracket, closing parenthesis).
      5. Save the changes back into the archive.
      6. Install the vsix package.
    • This works :)
  • Make the text selectable
    1 Posts | Last post June 30, 2015
    • Can you make the text in the team-room selectable.
If someone sends a code-snippet I would like to be able to copy the text and not have to log on to the web-page for that.

      Otherwise a nice add-on!

      Everything else looks good
  • 1.3.1 Issue
    2 Posts | Last post May 09, 2015
    • Same issue as has been reported by Sheitman & PaulMc.

Using VS Premium 2013 Update 3.

Any update on this issue? Do you actually test this before shipping it?
    • Hello Wim_H

Thanks for your feedback. Hopefully latest version should fix the issue - please try. We do test it before shipping it. However, it is not possible for us to test it in different TFS versions as we do not have such environments. We are working on this in our spare time and we make sure we test it in environments only available to us. We rely on community members like you, to give us feedback and report issues.
  • 1.3.1 throws exceptions for me

    • after the update to version 1.3.1 I can't use it anymore. every time I enter a team room, when it is loading the messages, I get the following exception (please note everything worked before, I have a german version of tfs 2013 and vs 2013 ultimate in english however)

      ---------------------------
An exception has been passed to SmartAssembly.ReportException

    • Sorry to hear that! I will take a look as soon as possible. We are aligning our codebase to the API changes so there must be some issue covering all the scenarios. Thanks for reporting.
    • Further, if you need v1.2.9, I can send it to you privately till I investigate the issue you have reported.
    • Good idea. Perhaps you can upload it somewhere like OneDrive so that other people could also "downgrade" until a fixed version is released :)
    • We're also encountering this issue - would you be able to provide a private link to the previous versions which didn't encounter this exception to me too?
    • Hi Utkarsh, could you please let me know when you have a fix for this problem. Thank you
    • Hi Utkarsh, could I also get the v1.2.9 version if you haven't had a chance to fix the issue? The feature is cool and I would like to have our teams start using it on a daily basis.
    • Hello everyone, sorry for the delay. Please download the v1.2.9 from here. Let me know if it fixes the issues for you.

      http://1drv.ms/1IbdRJV
    • I am receiving the same error as the original poster. I tried 1.2.9 above, and it works until you enable the toast notifications. Interacting with the toast notifications in anyway crashes VS. Are there any updates on a fix for the original issue?
    • Hello All,

  • Blank "Team Rooms" Tab
    3 Posts | Last post May 09, 2015
    • I installed 1.3.1, got the same error as sheitman, below. Uninstalled 1.3.1 and then installed 1.2.9 and see the Available Rooms listed in Team Explorer but when I launch any of them, it opens a blank "Team Rooms" tab. Using VS Premium 2013, Version 12.0.31101.00 Update 4. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
    • Hi Utkarsh,
I ran into the same issue as PaulMc10. Are you planning to release an updated version of the extension anytime soon? It would be an excellent extension for teams.
      Thanks!
    • Hello PaulMC10 and Ikshvaku

We have made few defect fixes as per the new API changes. Please download the latest version and let us know if it fixes the issues you have faced. Thanks for the feedback and keep it coming.
