Good idea, but it currently (0.5.0) won't restore your global defaults so it'll mess up your personal settings after you opened a project using EditorConfig. This needs to be fixed before it can be recommended.
Must have tool if you work on multiple project with different tabs/space conventions.
I've always wanted such a tool! A must have add-in for the open-source developers!
PS. Agree with M. Schroeter that it should be a part of Visual Studio. Please support this idea at visual studio uservoice website: https://visuals tudio.uservoice .com/forums/121 579-visual-stud io/suggestions/ 6146845-support -editorconfig
This extension is a lifesaver. I work with on several projects with different spacing and tab standards. Previously I'd installed an extension that re-added macros and wrote macros for each standard, but always forgot to apply them and they were a pain to write. This is simple, clean and painless and as an added bonus works in other editors like Notepad++ and even Vim!
This is an absolutely essentials extension when writing open source software or working in teams of multiple developers. I can't recommend this enough!
Simple and easy to use. Has no noticeable impact on the performance of Visual Studio.
I was unable to find any issues using Visual Studio 2012 Update 4.
Doesn't seem to work in Visual Studio 2013. Please see https://github.
com/editorconfi g/editorconfig/ issues/138 for details. UPDATE: FIXED! You need to make sure you add `tab_width` as well as `indent_style` to get it to replace spaces with tabs. :) 5 stars! -S
Nice extension! Should be a part of Visual Studio.
I am very excited about this project!, but be forewarned the posted version 0.3.1 does not appear to work on VS2012 update 3. [ as of 11/8/2013 ]
I was able to get running on Update 3 [just light usage, so far] by using the version found here. https://github. com/editorconfi g/editorconfig/ issues/116#issu ecomment-244153 42
Good extension, but it should be part of Visual Studio because it is very common to have different coding styles with different projects.
Works as described, quick and easy!
Excellent. Nice and easy to use, does exactly what I expected, and doesn't make files any slower to open like some solutions.

Plugin seems great but I don't see any documentation how to use it?
Once we created .editorconfig and added required settings. After that how these changes are enforced ? Could someone guide ?
October 05, 2014
You need to close and open your project for the changes to take effect

Your plugin seems broken with Visual Studio 2013. Someone else can confirm?

Yup, doesn't work in VS2013, but works fine in VS2012.

It sounds like the extension should be updated very soon. Thanks!

I tried to install by Nuget: Install-Package EditorConfig
It says this package does not exist. How should I solve this?
July 20, 2012
This isn't a NuGet package -- it's a Visual Studio extension. Open the Extension Manager (Tools > Extension Manager) and search for EditorConfig, then click install.
