Since Microsoft is abandoning setup (vdproj) files, we decided to move to WiX for building our installers. Rather than build a new WiX project from scratch, we wanted to make use of all the knowledge that had been built in to our vdproj, and we were looking for a converter. This converter seems to be unique -- in any case, it saved us a lot of time. As a brand-new product, it has a few bugs, but Add-in Express's support was very responsive, and they got us though the problems very quickly.

Definitely worth the price, and we wholeheartedly recommend it.

    • Being a trial, what are the limitiations? Can I use this in a production environment?
    • Nevermind, I just read the readme.txt file. Here are the limitations:
      - Time-limited version, for evaluation purposes only.
      - Nag screen when converting a Visual Studio setup project to WiX.
      - Nag screen when installing an MSI package created with the trial version.
      - Destination folder of an installation package cannot be changed by the
        user during installation.
    • Hi Zoldello,
You are absolutely right. A licensed version is required for production environment. You can check out the available subscriptions and prices here:

    • when are you planning to release an update for vs 2013?
      thank you.
    • Hi Ilann,
We published the new version that supports VS 2013 a few weeks ago, but forgot to update info here on the Visual Studio Gallery, sorry for that omission. We have just updated the page and uploaded the latest trial, so feel free to download it right now.
