I really liked these templates, they are gorgeous and easy to use.

I like this extension because it's very simple to use. It helps the user to remember a simple line of code to add pages, and removes the hassle of remembering long code to apply this theme.

  • Not working

    • So I have created a project and have been for a while. Now all of a sudden it doesn't work. I have the files referenced and all but it still says there missing and on the .cs files it's acting like FirstFloor.ModernUI isn't even there. Which it is. I've tried uninstalling it and read installing aND still nothing. Can someone please help. I just lost my project I've been working on for a long time. This is also a git hub tracker issue too.
    • Found out that it was because my repo had a space in it from Visual Studio Online. So word to the wise, don't place spaces in your repo name. Otherwise, great application!
  • Usercontrols not scaling.

    • Hi, this is a very nice template which when I discovered was eager to dive into.
Only I'm experiencing this problem when adding a datagrid to a page it does not scale correctly.
It shows a very small window in the center of the page. When I navigate away and then back to the page, the application is unresponsive for a while but then displays the datagrid full width on the page (as it should). I just set the ItemsSource to an ObservableCollection and added the grid in XAML.
Changing the width and height attributes in designer has no impact at all.
      I'm using .NET 4.5 and VS 2013
If someone could hint or knows what's going wrong it would be very much appreciated.
    • Nevermind, I was too quick to post here.
I recreated the page and it worked. Compared with the old one and noticed
I somehow deleted the ModernUI reference in XAML ...
My apologies and thanks again for the great work!
  • Not Working on Windows 10
    3 Posts | Last post September 25, 2015
    • This extension worked perfectly on Visual Studio 2013 while running windows 8 and 8.1 but when i upgraded to windows 10 is is not working , i have updated .Net framework through windows Program and Features, Downloaded Offline installers of all the Frameworks available on internet and Microsoft Website, but whenever i install this extension , it gives this error message
"The extension could not be installed because of the following error occurred:
The extension 'Modern UI for WPF Templates' requires a version of .Net Framework that is not installed. "
i tried to install older versions of .Net Framework but they don't get installed because it says "
Same or higher version of .NET Framework 4 has already been installed on this computer"
Please fix this issue at your earliest convenience.
      Thank you
    • I get the same error message when installing MUI through Visual Studio's extension manager. However, using the download link from the visualstudiogallery page works.
    • Hi Syed-Umar,
Maybe I can help you, I was getting the same trouble with windows 10 and Visual Studio 2013, I also tried installing and uninstalling many versions of .NET Framework but nothing worked. My solution was installing a newer version of VS (VS Community 2015), and the extension was installed successfully.
  • Failed to install

    • I'm unable to install the extension. When the installer fails, the log contains this message:
Microsoft.VisualStudio.ExtensionManager.MissingTargetFrameworkException: The extension 'Modern UI for WPF Templates' requires a version of the .NET Framework that is not installed.
I'm running Visual Studio 2013 Professional (Update 4) with .NET Framework 4.6 installed.
Which version of the framework is required?
    • I'm getting this, too. I have .Net 4.52 installed, on Windows 10.
    • I'm still getting this, as I was back in March. Can y'all fix this?
    • Does the installer still fail? Been testing this on both VS2013 and VS2015 with WPF4.6 installed, seem to work fine.
  • C++ version

    • Where is the C++ version for 2015?
    • Doesn't exist, the templates are for C# with .NET 4.5 and up. I think you can use ModernUI for WPF with c++, but you can't use these templates. Manually creating ModernUI apps is documented here ->
  • Available for .NET 4.0?

    • So I really want to use this for my CIS program. I fell in love with it when I was testing it out. The problem I run into is that my target computers, only have .NET 4.0 and I've talked to their Tech Support Ground (TSG) and asked if they were going to go .NET 4.5. They couldn't give me an answer so I'm stuck with .NET 4. I was wondering if there was a way to make this work with 4.0 OR where I could get an older edition that supports .NET 4.0.
    • Modern UI for WPF does support .NET 4, it's just that the templates for Visual Studio are for .NET 4.5 and up. If you do need .NET 4, you can manually create a Modern UI app as is documented here ->
  • Error The type or namespace name 'App' does not exist in the namespace 'FirstFloor.ModernUI' (are you missing an assembly reference?)

    • Hi Everyone,
I am using Modern UI via nuget.
Unfortunately its not working for me. In a brand new Modern UI app - untouched, I try to run the application and I get the following exception in build:
Error	1	The type or namespace name 'App' does not exist in the namespace 'FirstFloor.ModernUI' (are you missing an assembly reference?)	C:\xrnd\SmsGate\v1.0\xrnd.SmsGate\xrnd.SmsGate.SmsGateApp\
Assembly is added correctly, i have tried multiple machines and uninstalling / reinstalling package via nuget.
      Can you help?
    • Please disregard, something very wonky happened in the install process due to our company's over the top anti virus. All is well now.
  • WPF basic templates gona after installing

    • After installing my WPF Visual Studio project items are gone except User Control, I'm just looking to add a Resource Dictionary. Is this on purpose?
  • VS2015 support
    5 Posts | Last post March 26, 2015
    • When can we expect this extension to work in VS2015 guys?
    • Good point, just uploaded a new release with vs2015 support. Enjoy!
    • Now the new release is set to update in VS 2013, but cannot as it "requires a version of the .NET Framework that is not installed." Should this have been released of VS 2013, or only VS 2015?
    • The extension requires .NET 4.5, this requirement hasn't changed.
    • So why is it not installing? I have 4.5, 4.5.1, 4.5.2, and 4.6 installed.
  • Success
