Love it, thanks!

This is great! I feel like I've been looking for something like this forever! My only suggestion would be to have an option to only highlight uppercase terms. Many of us use the uppercase style for SQL keywords, and if you only highlighted all-uppercase matches, it would automatically eliminate any highlighting of terms in strings that aren't SQL statements. Maybe that would be easier than trying to detect SQL statements?

It would be nice if it could update/syncronize from database schema changes and propose the corresponding changes in the sql strings

I have no idea what this does or how it works. After installing it nothing changed in VS 2010. None of the SQL was highlighted and i didn't see any options to turn it on. In options it showed up and i was able to chose colors, but they never showed up in the editor.

    • Hi,
      Would it be possible to add "IntegratedShell"
      to the Vsix schema?
      like this:
      <VisualStudio Version="11.0">
      Does the syntax highlighting only works on C# strings or on any installed language that has the concept of strings?

    • Hi,
      Nice extension. Is there a way to set custom color for SQL keywords only?
    • Nevermind. Just read the description. Works great!
  • Does it only work in C# and not in vb.net?

    • Hi,
      I just installed this and it seems to work great in my C# projects but in my vb.Net projects there is no highlighting at all.
  • How does it work?

    • How do I use it ?
      Someone help please ?
    • Just install it and write a sql query in a string literal.
      var query = "select * from sometable";

    • Are there any plans to make this work with SQL CE? I like the idea of the tool but am stuck with SQL CE so I don't get to take advantage of the features here.
    • Hey Jerry,
      This extension adds highlighting to string literals so it doesnt matter what version of SQL you use.
      Let me know if you are missing SQL CE specific keywords so i can add them.

    • Hey,
      any chance that you will upgrade it, so it will work with VS2010 Database Projects? We have a lot of these here, with a lot of dynamic SQL strings and it would be great to have an equal highlighting.
    • Hey Feroc,
      Currently it supports database CLR projects, but i dont think thats what you are talking about. I have to admit ive never created a database project, so im going to have to see what it is before i can say anything. Ill get back to you on this when i get the time.

    • Hi!
      SQL Syntax Highlighting is an error.
      For example, MessageBox.Show ("aaa", "bbb"); is the phrase.
      "aaa" and "bbb" between the commas (,) to remove and put back.
      So Visual Studio is the whole death occurs.
      This problem was solved by removing the SQL Syntax Highlighting.
      What relevance do you?
    • Hey Cliel, thanks for your feedback! I've uploaded a new version and that should fix the bug you mentioned. Please let me know if the problem persists.
    • Hey fbdegroot, I just installed your plugin. It's great! However, it looks like JOIN and OUTER JOIN are not being highlighted. Could you highlight JOIN and OUTER JOIN as well? INNER JOIN, CROSS JOIN, LEFT JOIN, and RIGHT JOIN are all being highlighted properly. Thanks!
    • Hey steven1234, sorry for my late response. As of version those 2 should be highlighted aswell. Thanks for the report!
    • Thanks for fixing highlighting for those JOIN keywords. Is there any way I could get the source. I'm hoping to customize it a bit for queries at my company and maybe make a few enhancements. Thanks!
