All I get too is "Cannot find requested topic on your computer" is all I can get from it :-( Standalone help viewer finds all topics.

This is a brilliant idea, but with a few missing features (bookmarks/favorites, sync with toc).

After years of backwards steps, this gets us back almost to the usefulness and convenience of Visual Studio's intgerated help from the late 90s. Why didn't this ship inside VS?

    • Will there be an update for VS 2013/2015? I really dont feel VS can be called an IDE without this ability. Maybe its a DE but not every tool is integrated.
  • Default to C# in displaying Help

    • When I do the F1 to bring up help on a topic, it always defaults to C#, and I am in VB. Is there something I am missing? I click the VB button, and it displays correct VB help. Go to next topic, and its back to C#.
  • Multiple help explorer windows

    • This is a brilliant idea.
Getting multiple help windows is available through the context menu. Could you expose this functionality through middle-click on links/index/search (like H3Viewer) or at least Ctrl-Click (like Help Viewer 2.0)?
    • Also, trying to find a particular word within the current help page is impossible with CTRL+F, which brings up the Visual Studio Find dialog instead of the IE Find dialog.
    • Please consider adding a `Bookmarks` or `Favorites` tab.
  • Cannot find requested topic on your computer

    • It appears that some pages will not display in the integrated browser.
I followede the path (from tree node in TOC)
Windows Development (Windows) -> Windows Application UI Development -> Windows and Messages.
The same topic displays fine in the help 2.0 viewer altho pasting the link in I.E. does not. Many of the older Win32 Documentations give this error such as dialog boxes etc..
I tried an index and search for CreateWindow, ShowWindow, and a few others off the top of my head and they all yield the same results.
Using VS 2012 Ultimate and the complete MSDN library installed locally.
  • BUG?

    • Not all installed content displayed in Visual Studio 2012 Integrated Help Extension (not shwing in TOC).
      What can I do ?
    • Hi, you need to manage the installation of your Help Content using the Help Viewer application. While in Visual Studio find the Help Menu and choose the 'Add and Remove Help Content Item'. This will launch the Help Viewer Application and you will be able to manage/install/uninstall your locale help content. Hope that helps!
