Hi, this tool looks like exactly what we need, but it does not work with VSTS. I get an error "Team Foundation services are not available from server". Do you have any plans to update it? Thanks, Boris
This tool is really great, we would like to use it to duplicate the work item structure of the product requirements related to a specific iteration to another one. (so duplicating all requirements for 4.0 to the 4.1)
The only missing part is the test cases wich are not taken.
Do you plan to provide an upcoming version of this tool?
Is the test cases is included?
Do you still maintaining this tool? could we have to the source of possible to develop this missing feature?
Thank you for the feedback. The scenario you are describing is exactly what this tool is intended to do :-)
We are planning to release an update of Work Item Tree Copy but unfortunately I can not give you a timeframe. I'll keep the test case scenario in mind for next version. Right now we are also discussing the option to publish the source code, but unfortunately I can't give you a time frame for this either.
Allowing a user to deep copy an existing workitem into another *existing* workitem. Specifically, the target workitem would get the subtree from the existing workitem. No new parent-level workitem would be created.
Other than that, its a nice product.
Standard (single) copy operation in TFS creates Releated link between original work item and copied work item. The tool requires to set up a new link type History Link that looks strange and confusing. Can you modify the tool the way it creates standard Related links instead of non-standard History Link please?
A great tool, unfortunately we cannot use it as it doesn't copy to a different project and it would also have been great if we could select a query and it would copy all items (and children of) from the query.
When I try to download VSIX, I receive the following message from VS Extension Installer :
" This extension is not installable on any currently installed products".
Here is the list of my installed products :
- MS VS Test Professional 2010 - ENU
- MS TFS 2010 Power Tools
- MS VS Web Developer 2010
- MS VS Team Explorer 2010
- MS VS Process Editor 1.0
What's missing ? Can you help me ?
Sorry, in the current version the VSIX manifest says you need one of the following editions:
Visual Studio Professional
Visual Studio Premium
Visual Studio Ultimate
But you can try this:
1. Download the vsix
2. rename it to WorkItemTreeCopy.zip
3. extract the files
4. find the .vsixmanifest file
5. edit the vsixmanifest to match your version of VS (you will easily find the part of the file where the versions are specified)
6. safe the file
7. zip the files again
8. rename them package to WorkItemTreeCopyModified.vsix.
I've never tested this, but it might work. You definitly need the Team Explorer, but you have it installed, so: Good luck!
Please let me know, if it works!
Hi Daniel ! Yes it works !! In fact, my VS edition is the Visual Studio 2010 Shell.
To discover the VS Editions supported by VSIX, I have run the C:Program Files\Microsoft\Visual Studio 10.0\IDE\VSIXInstaller.exe - There I've found that the right way to write it VSIXManifest file is : <Edition>IntegratedShell</Edition>. After that I have followed you procedure successfully step by step. Many thank's. Francis
