This tool is really awesome!.
I have few suggestions, would be great if these are addressed.
I have a "Branch per release" branching strategy and I have 30 build definitions per each release branch. When the development in Release1 overs, I need to point all 30 builds to Release2 branch(rather creating new builds for Release2).
For this i need to modify every build definition manually. Can we have the option where we "remap workspaces" for multiple build definitions in bulk.
Similarly, I want to modify "Projects to build" and "Configuration to build" in bulk (for the build template DefaultTemplate.xaml)

Please let me know if this is feasible and can be done. If yes please give me hint on how to add this feature to this tool.

Thanks in advance

Using the piece for code coverage with gated check-in on TFS 2012. It's working nicely.
Not too hard to figure out for this long time TFS user, first time TFS extender.

A bit of background with editing workflows helped out.

Also, editing the metadata to get the code coverage variables displaying nicely in the build editor is a bit of shiny polish.

Some of the documentation is a outdated, but still can be used to figure out what to do.

It would help to have a Vertical Scroll so I can see all the builds. I would like to export to a csv file. The column heading for the Type should be changed to Trigger and the fields under the column should match the selections for Trigger. Overall; I rate it as a C-.

Works as a charm! A "must have" to work efficiently with builds.
The Clone to branch is awesome !

  • TFS credentials window pops up everytime I open the build manager
    2 Posts | Last post July 26, 2014
    • My TFS credentials are saved in windows credentials manager but since the last update, the build manager has been prompting me to re-enter my credentials everytime I attempt to use it. Its annoying and cumbersome. I'm going to downgrade to the previous update. Is anyone else having this issue?
    • I've not heard of this issue. What version are you on?
  • Generate Build Notes Automatically as part of build
    2 Posts | Last post July 26, 2014
    • I would like to be able to generate the Build Notes as part of the builds automatically, this way I could email them out when the build finishes. Is that supported?
    • No. The 2013 version may get this once the console app is added in the next few days. No ETA on adding that command though.
  • Not able to hide definition's
    2 Posts | Last post February 28, 2014
    • I am able to disable the build definitions but those are still visible under the builds section with x symbol on them. is there a way I can completely hide them from builds section in team explorer and enable them or make them visible whenever I wanted.
    • I don't believe there is a way to hide build definitions completely from view. You can disallow viewing/editing of the contents and queuing, but not from view in Team Explorer
  • Hierarchical Build Ordering
    1 Posts | Last post April 03, 2013
    • We have build definitions for our branches for each of our products. So product A has Branch 1 BD, Branch 2 BD, and Trunk BD and Product B has a very similar setup. Does this tool allow the build definitions to be ordered or moved into some kind of hierarchical tree fashion so that I can group my builds based on some kind of tag or common attribute? If not would you care to implement a feature that does this? I was about to set out on building a tool very similar to this with the aforementioned feature, but I hate to reinvent the wheel.

    • I just installed version and found that the link in team explorer is not a link. It is greyed out.
  • Bug? Missing vertical scroll bar
    2 Posts | Last post December 09, 2012
    • I've got a Team Project with rather a lot of build definitions in and unfortunately, I'm not seeing a vertical scroll bar, and neither is my colleague. Have just installed (VS2012). VS2010 version was awesome BTW.
    • This (embarrasing) issue has been fixed in the version

  • Clone a definition that's NOT to a branch?
    2 Posts | Last post September 24, 2012
    • I just need to clone a build definition, asis, without any assumptions that I'm branching code or otherwise. Is it possible?
    • No, at the moment the extension only implements the branch scenario.
The reason for this is that there is already a Clone Build Definition command available in Team Explorer that basically supports your scenario.
